Hubballi: KIMS Resident Doctors Plan Massive Padayatra
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: Resident doctors affiliated with the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) are set to embark on a massive padayatra (foot march) from KIMS to the Tahsildar’s office in the city, passing through Chennamma Circle on Tuesday.
The junior doctors initiated their indefinite strike today, demanding an increase in their stipends. As announced earlier, the doctors abstained from non-emergency work and gathered on the premises, holding placards and chanting slogans urging the government to fulfill their demands promptly. These resident doctors, who are the backbone of the medical college and its institutions, shed light on their plight.
In an earlier conversation with EXPRESS, Dr. Suhas ST, JDA President of Hubballi, emphasized that their demand is legitimate and has been consistently overlooked. He stated, “Despite numerous appeals, the concerned authorities have remained unresponsive to our pleas, leaving us with no choice but to initiate an indefinite strike, refraining from non-emergency work.”
The doctors have declared their intention to intensify their protest in the coming days, aiming to compel the government, which they claim has been negligent towards their demands, to consider their position seriously.
